Transient Vacation Rentals
The WBV AOAO and the WBV Manager have no involvement in rental of a unit. However, the following information is provided as a courtesy to owners but is not responsible for the accuracy of this information and should check with County of Kauai or Hawaii State Government.
Register Unit with Kauai County Planning Department
Wailua Bay View is within an approved Visitor Destination Area (VDA) so owners can be approved by Kauai County Planning Department for a Transient Vacation Rental (TVR) license. Check directly with Kauai Planning Department as most of the information on their “Transient Vacation Rentals“ section of their website is for non-conforming unit (NCU) rentals that are outside of Visitor Destination Area and thus not applicable to Wailua Bay View which is within the Visitor Designation Area.
Hawaii General Excise Tax and Transient Accommodations Tax
Any owner planning to rent their condo unit for short term visitors must apply for a Tax ID number with Hawaii Department of Taxation and pay to State of Hawaii both the General Excise Tax (GET) and Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) either quarterly or semi(annually, depending on the amount of income received.
Rentals Agents and By Owners Rentals
Owners desiring to rent their units out may hire any rental company or act as their own agent. Owners of rentals must have an on island contact person.
Master Rental List Provided in Open Office
A list of rental units is available in the open office area. If want added to list or if information needs changed, ask the WBV manager who to contact for updates to rental list.
